About the Founder
Sapphire Financial's Managing Partner, Robin Engelson, has over 25 years of experience in lending and raising money for companies across all industries. From 2007 to 2011, she was Managing Director and Head of Private Placements for Lazard's Middle Market Advisory practice (NYSE:LAZ). Prior to that, she founded Sapphire Financial in 2003 and had a strategic partnership with Goldsmith Agio Helms, a full service investment bank specializing in the middle market.
Prior to her career in investment banking, Ms. Engelson served in senior management lending positions and built and managed billion dollar loan portfolios for both GE Capital and The Bank of New York Mellon. She serves or has served on several boards, including Ameriprise Bank FSB, a subsidiary of Ameriprise Financial, Inc. (NYSE:AMP), Medica (a $2bn Revenue healthcare company), The Minnesota State Board of Accountancy, and several non-profit entities. She also served on the advisory board for two private equity funds.
Ms. Engelson has received professional awards from both The Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal and Minnesota's Finance and Commerce publications. Ms. Engelson received a masters of Business Administration from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with high honors from the Honors Program at University of Michigan.
